Take Someone for a Ride——欺騙某人

    !! The meaning "to murder" came from the criminal underworld when rival gangsters were frequently taken for a ride in an automobile and murdered.  It became popular with mystery novels in the 1930s-1940s.  Eric Ambler used this meaning in Journey into Fear in 1940: "He was to be taken for a ride."

    （“謀殺”的含義來自黑社會，當時敵對的歹徒經常被帶上汽車被殺。它在二十世紀三十至四十年代流行於神秘小說中。Eric Ambler在一九四○年的“進入恐懼之旅”中使用了這個含義：“他將被殺〔被帶去搭順風車〕”）。

    !! This slang was defined in Dialect Notes in 1925 as playing a trick on or deceiving someone.
