Don't Cry over Spilt Milk──覆水難收

    ** don’t weep, regret or grieve about something that is beyond saving, unalterable or irreparable（（不要為無法挽救、無法改變或無法挽回的事情哭泣、後悔或悲傷。）

    ~~ 覆水難收；後悔無用；傷心於事無補；不要徒勞悲傷；別作無益的後悔；傷心無補於實際；不要為無法改變的事實哭泣；不要為過去的失敗而懊喪

    ~~ No use crying over spilt milk; don't regret what cannot be fixed/rectified/undone; crying doesn't solve anything; don't spend your time worrying; don't be upset over something minor; tears are worthless; don't fret pointlessly; let bygones be bygones

    !! This proverb originated from Aesop’s Fable about a milkmaid carrying a full pail of milk on her head.  She daydreamed about selling the milk for eggs which would hatch into chickens and so on ... which would ultimately make her so rich she would toss her head at a marriage offer.  But when she prematurely tossed her head the milk spilled.

    這句諺語起源於《伊索寓言》，一個擠牛奶的女工頭頂着一桶牛奶。她夢想着賣牛奶換取雞蛋，這些雞蛋會孵化成小雞等… 最終會讓她變得如此富有，以至於她會對求婚者搖頭。但當她過早搖頭時，牛奶便灑了出來。
